Deputy General Secretary of the UNP, and President of Jathika Sevaka Sangamaya Dr. Jayalath Jayawardena MP, addressing a news conference in Colombo, said Commenting on the proposed Private Sector Pensions Bill, he said that the government was trying to pilfer the hard earned savings of the workers in the Employees Provident Fund.
The EPF, has suffered huge losses due to the unwise investments made in the Stock Market, Jayawardena observed.
The MP said that the Fund had failed to issue any financial statements in recent years, but the Central Bank continued to preach about good and ethical practices.
