Dr Jayalath Jayawardena, Senior Parliamentarian and President of the Jathika Sevaka Sangamaya (JSS), United National Party celebrates his 59th birthday on 16th August 2012.
He also celebrates the 18th year of being a Member of Parliament continuously and the 31st year as an active member of the United National Party.
He has started his political career as a member of the UNP Youth League during late President J R Jayewardene’s regime and he was appointed to the Working Committee of the UNP by late President Ranasinghe Premadasa in 1990 and has been a continuous member of the UNP Working Committee up to date since then.
He has been an Assistant Secretary of the UNP in charge of Human Rights for more than a decade and he was appointed as the Deputy General Secretary of the UNP. In the year 2011, he was also elected as the President of the Jathika Sevaka Sangamaya (JSS) which is the trade union of the UNP. In 2011 he has also kept a World Guinness Record for hosting the longest ongoing Medical program in the world.
Every year, he celebrates his birthday at the Shrine of Lady of Madhu. There will be a religious function at the Shrine of Lady of Madhu to commemorate Dr Jayalath Jayawardene’s birthday on the 16th August, 2012.
